Chanel SS 2011

If Karl Lagerfeld gets inspired from his dreams then i can be sure Coco Chanel herself visited him in one of his dreams and her spirit was taking over his mind and soul and hands this time.
A  great come back for Chanel, a great stage, a great collection, a great show...
The stage was a monochromatic black and white garden with its fountain that mirrors the garden seen in the movie "Last Year at Marienbad " that was the source of inspiration of this collection.

The movie directed by Alain Resnais in 1960, is on the list of the worst 50 movies of all time but it was a great source of inspiration i guess for Lagerfeld and his team specially that Coco Chanel herself designed Delphine Seyrig's clothes for the film.
Inès de la Fressange modeled alongside Stella Tennant and Karl Lagerfeld revealed that the two models, respectively faces of Chanel in the eighties and nineties, will appear in the campaign with Freja Beha and Baptiste Giabiconi.

On the stage also a full orchestra of 80 musicians (the Lamoureux symphony orchestra) playing arrangements of Björk, the Verve, and John Barry.
When the show started it was obvious something new was happening in Chanel, the cloth where worked and the fabric perforated as if Karl deconstructed and cut out an old image long time used and abused at Chanel and the first looks had holes in them that made them look perfect and breathtaking and fresh. "After the show, Lagerfeld said new fabrics were one of his touchstones for the collection, but he distressed them with selvedge, ragged edges, and a lattice of perforations."

The entire show was so light with the sound of water falling from the 3 fountains and the unfinished look of the clothes even the denim pants looked light because of those nice holes added smartly to look like lace. and those white feather embroidered on the tweed they just look heavenly light. And who expected to see anything like the pale orange ostrich feather dress coming down the runway, it looked so angelic so nice so fresh and sensual. And also the transparency of the clothes that shows everything and nothing and the black voile and tulle. Just the right amount of transparency to keep it glamorous and chic. Now comes the Chanel suit and this time it was the tailored short in extra short length that does not look any vulgar but instead it looks super cute in a refined young way, I think this is a must have look for the coming spring summer.

And now let me add one more thing about the accessories, the wooden wedges, embroidered boots or tantalising black leather thigh boots are all so nice and all so feminine and the jewelry are a must specially those antic gold extra long earrings.

Anyway it is time to see photos, so I leave you to enjoy them.
