Recently, in need of a new palette, I stumbled upon The Balm's Meet Matt(e) Shmaker eyeshadow palette. The Balm was always a brand I had my eyes on, but somehow never bought anything from, so seeing this palette I finally gave in and made my first purchase.
For more than a year, I was on a low buy and panning my ABH Modern Renaissance palette and some Makeup Geek singles. Soon enough, my collection of everyday browns and neutrals hit rock bottom and was in need of replenishing. Browsing through a local drugstore, the Meet Matt(e) Shmaker palette caught my eye for having staple neutrals and some gorgeous pops of colour, one of which was a purple and purple is my favorite colour!
The palette has an interesting concept, pairing matte eyeshadows (which are The Balm's staple) with shimmer shades to complement it. There are 12 eyeshadows - 6 mattes and 6 shimmers, that promise a velvet smooth texture and high pigment.
Matt Stupak (5th swatched) is a brown with a slight warm, kinda mustard undertone that stands out more. As for the golds, Pat Lemos (2nd swatched) carries a beautiful peachy/orangey undertone, while Alex Stupak (6th swatched) is a standard warm gold. For the bottom shimmers, purple and green, I find they perform the best when applied wet.
The interesting thing about the shimmer shadows is that they are infused with light reflecting sparkles which make the shadows multidimensional and they pop in comparison to regular shimmers. I haven't noticed it at first glance, but my friends started complimenting my sparkly eyelids saying they love how it shifts under the light.
The colours I wear to create a wow effect are :

The colours I wear to create a wow effect are :
- Rose Snyder, a stunning dirty green gold (10th swatched)
- Matt Shahvaran, a reddish brown (3rd swatched)
They enhance my hazel eyes the most, making the green pop and upon wearing them, I get showered with compliments!
One more stand-out colour is Kate Shahvaran (4th swatched), a silver with an interesting pink undertone that makes for a ultra glimmering inner corner highlight, I just love it!
As for their blending ability, they are not the best in my collection, as you need to take a little more time to blend them compared to for example my beloved ABH shadows that seem to blend themselves. Patchiness seems to occur a little with the darkest brown and the black. However, as you add more effort into your blending, they blend perfectly fine. I personally waited for a sale to pick it up, and I advise the same for you. For the price and quality, I enjoy the palette and reccomend it.
The Balm Meet Matt(e) Shmaker eyeshadow palette retails for $29.50 on The Balm's website and it contains 9.6g/0.34 oz.
