My love for bright, hot pink lipsticks knows no bounds. One of the reasons I look forward to warmer months is being able to wear them...although they can also be an alternative to red lips during Christmas party season, and do we really need to be tied down to seasons?
You know that meme about having 37 lipsticks all in the same exact shade? That's me with hot pink lips. It doesn't matter if it's a gloss, tinted balm, stain, cream, or matte...I love them all (as long as they lean towards warm-toned). They flatter my skin tone a lot more than light/medium pinks, and they go well with a sculpted contour, a smoky lid or even an almost bare face. When the sun's out and your face is melting, you can still rock a bold pink (or orange lip) with some liquid blush, mascara and be good to go! Hot pinks are one of those shades that work well on EVERYONE. Here's a few of my favorite ones:
Don't be fooled, this may be labeled as a "matte" formula but this gorgeous "matte" lipstick is the most comfortable one I have ever worn. It lasts a few hours without eating or drinking (or eating anything that's not oily), but it's not kissproof. It's still so creamy and velvet-y. This is the only lipstick I brought with me to Mexico, and I wore it on dinner nights out with Cecilio. It was super comfortable (the humidity there also helped my lips, I even skipped lip balm on some days!)
ColourPop Ultra Gloss in "Honey B"
I found a new jewel in the ColourPop Ultra Glosses, especially this beautiful raspberry shade. It's super-pigmented (I don't like glosses that are sheer) that you don't need to wear this over a lipstick. It's also comfortable and moisturizing, but not sticky (no need to worry about your hair getting stuck in this!)
Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in "Santa Ana"
I've received a few OFRA liquid lipsticks from subscription boxes (I got this in my June 2017 Boxycharm), and I love them because they are truly long-lasting and won't transfer, but not painfully drying. Santa Ana is a bit more muted than the other shades featured here, but it's still summer-worthy!
Glossier Generation G Matte in "Crush"
This is what I like to call a "sheer matte" shade, it leaves a tint, but is still a bit drying. But this is wonderful if you truly want to go bare, but still want a bit of color. This shade and formula gives the illusion of eating fruits and getting your lips stained. You can even double this up as a blush!
Kiko Velvet Passion Matte in "313 Sangria"
If you're looking for a dupe of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks, and are slightly more comfortable, you are looking at the Kiko Velvet Passion Matte lipsticks. I would even say that it's comparable to the MAC lipstick in "All Fired Up", but creamier and much more pigmented.
What's your signature hot pink lipstick shade?
