MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer

Turiya Ramakrishna
I've spoken about MUA Lux Lacquers before and to sum it all up - they weren't bad. Nonetheless, MUA took it upon themselves to renew and reformulate their line and I have to say, it's certainly for the better. Not only has the packaging been revamped but the formulation too.

Each liquid lipstick comes in a decadent frosted bottle, smells like sweet berry candy, and is more rich in pigmentation, creamy on first application and dries to immovable but comfortable matte finish (you'll need an oil based product/ lots of soap and water to remove it fully). MUA has listened to the higher makeup forces that be and widened their product line to various shades other than in your face brights.

From Firecracker a dark brownish red, Poised a brownish beige, to Iced a bright sky blue, Passion a nude orange cream and Sizzle a rusty orange brown etc. - MUA has a shade to suit all your whimsical and practical whims. Each shade is a powerhouse of colour and Moxie is no different, its a shade to be reckoned with.

Moxie is a bright fuchsia that will suit a multitude of skin tones. Personally, I think its a good bright inexpensive bold step, for the unsure bold lip explorer and it looks great on dark skin (check out High Street Mania - Demi's review & swatches) for further clarification.

Moxie - liquid to matte
Moxie feels comfortable on the lips and lasts alright but, after some time when it comes into contact with water/saliva and food it does disintegrate (crumble). Yet, I don't feel like that's such a bad thing. I think every formula has its occasion and perhaps MUA Luxe lacquers are perfect for ... occasions when you're willing and don't mind carry around makeup wipes/remover and a mirror to reapply. Think chilled picnics, afternoon meet ups, movie nights etc.

To conclude, I really like the changes MUA have made. Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers offer great pigmentation, a matte finish and a comfortable wear at a really good price. Despite its faults (prone to crumble) I think MUA Luxe Lacquers are pretty good products for those who want matte lip colours without a drying feel, huge price tag and is relatively easy to remove.

Price: £3 each
